Arsenal agree personal terms but bid rejected for winger

Diamond Academy winger Samuel Chukwueze will not be joining Arsenal this summer, despite agreeing personal terms with the club as well as completing a medical.

The 17-year-old Nigerian under-20 international had been offered a five-year deal by Arsene Wenger and was set to join alongside teammate Kelechi Nwakali – with both going straight into the academy set-up.

However, while Nwakali is still likely to join in the next couple of weeks, it’s reported by All Nigeria Soccer that the bid of £2.5m as well as performance-related add-ons has not been accepted because a number of other teams are also interested in signing the winger.

Porto are believed to have agreed a deal with the Diamond Academy despite the fact that the winger would prefer to make the move to north London and work under the likes of Thierry Henry, Arsene Wenger and a number of other names involved with the club.
