Arsenal lose out in battle to sign €15m target despite late bid
|Arsenal will miss out on the signing of Lille defender Djibril Sidibe, with the 23-year-old set to sign for AS Monaco.
French news outlet L’Equipe had previously reported that the north London side came in with a late bid of €15m and had spoken to the representatives of Sidibe but Le10Sport now claim that the Gunners have left it too late.
Monaco are set to loan midfielder Rony Lopes to Lille, as well as paying €15m as well as some added bonuses – a deal which their Ligue 1 rivals found too good to turn down.
Reports from @le10sport now claim that Sidibe will reject Arsenal and complete a move to Monaco. #afc pic.twitter.com/C8fVQ4R0dz

Sidibe will be the second player to reject Arsenal if the move does go through, with Jamie Vardy having done so last month – instead opting to sign a new long-term contract at Premier League champions Leicester City.
The club’s summer could go from bad to worse, with Alexis Sanchez reportedly tempted by a potential transfer to Juventus, after the Italian side made a bid of £25m for the 27-year-old – a move which was subsequently rejected.
