Arsenal winger arrives in Brazil to complete permanent transfer

Arsenal winger Wellington Silva has returned to Fluminense ahead of completing a permanent transfer back to his boyhood club.

The 23-year-old dropped a major hint on his Facebook page that he would be leaving the north London club when he uploaded a photo with the caption, “Every good son returns home”.

Wellington joined the Gunners in 2010 but his inability to gain a work permit delayed his Arsenal debut and he was forced to go out on loan on numerous occasions, including spending a season at Bolton Wanderers in order to gain competitive experience.

However, the Brazilian’s time at the Championship club was disappointing and at one point he was criticised by Neil Lennon for his poor performances.

According to Samba Foot, Arsenal have agreed a deal with Fluminense for Wellington to return on a permanent deal, meaning that the talented winger will have left the club without having made a single senior appearance.
