Arsenal miss out on €45m-rated central defender
Roma are set to hold onto Arsenal and Chelsea target Kostas Manolas, despite speculation linking the central defender with a move away from the club.
It’s believed Manolas has asked Roma for a new and improved contract but the Serie A side are in no position to offer improved terms on his current €1.9m-per-year salary and while a move to the Premier League is of interest to the 25-year-old, he is set to stay at the club.
GoonerTalk’s Chris Wheatley – Goal’s official Arsenal correspondent, has confirmed that it would take a bid of at least €45m to persuade Roma to sell Manolas and even a figure that high may not be enough.
The north London side are believed to be targeting a number of different players this summer, with Borussia Dortmund’s Nevan Subotic also on the list, although it’s reported that Middlesbrough are closing in on the signing of the Serbian defender.
