Arsenal are interested in signing Hoffenheim centre forward Philipp Ochs after the 19-year-old impressed for Germany at the European under-19 Championships.

The teenager was an impressive member of a disappointing Germany side during the tournament and scored a hat-trick in his side’s second game.

According to Bild, a number of top European sides were at the tie – including Arsenal’s chief scouts, who were thoroughly impressed with Ochs’ performances and want to make a move for him in the coming weeks.

“Philipp has attracted attention with strong performances – not only now at the European Championships.

But with any speculation, we have never participated, and we will continue to do so.”

However, the club’s manager are unwilling to sell and it may take a large fee for the Gunners to convince Hoffenheim to part with their talented striker, who has made 13 appearances for the first-team and is expected to build on an already blossoming career in the new Bundesliga campaign.

It’s believable that Arsenal had scouts at the game, what’s not so sure is whether Arsene Wenger would be willing to overspend on the striker considering the more pressing areas of the pitch that the north London side have to concern themselves with.
