Arsenal see bid for Leicester target rejected

Arsenal have seen a bid for Torino right back Bruno Peres rejected, according to reports from Gianluca DiMarzio.

The north London side have Hector Bellerin, Mathieu Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson at their disposal ahead of the new season but it’s likely that the latter two will part the club this summer, either on loan or permanent deals.

With youngsters Chiori Johnson and Tafari Moore pressing each other for the starting berth with the under-21s, the Gunners have plenty of talent coming through the ranks but Arsene Wenger is unwilling to rush them into the fray.

According to reports coming out of Italy, Arsenal have already submitted a bid for Peres but saw the move rejected, while Premier League champions Leicester City are also monitoring the player’s situation but have yet to make a formal move.

It doesn’t seem likely that these reports are true, with Johnson – highly rated and just 18-years-old, coming through the academy, a recent example in Bellerin proves that Wenger keeps an eye on his academy prospects and is happy to give them a chance, while Debuchy is likely to leave the club on a permanent deal and Jenkinson is set to stay as he continues his recovery from injury.

Meanwhile, Moore is set to make a season-long loan move to Dutch side FC Utrecht.

The most likely situation is that we’ll see Peres sign a new contract at Torino in coming weeks and the news will be ‘Arsenal fail to sign target’ once again, even though they were probably never interested in signing him.
