Arsenal to sign striker in ‘coming hours’, face late competition from La Liga giants
|Arsenal could complete the signing of Wissam Ben Yedder in the ‘coming hours’, according to a report from Canal+.
The north London side have been heavily linked with a number of strikers this summer but Ben Yedder had certainly not been spoken about until the morning of Tuesday 26th July – when reports emerged that the Toulouse star is set to pick between Sevilla and Arsenal.
It’s believed that should Ben Yedder ‘pick’ the Gunners over Sevilla, he would sign a deal later the same day and a deal could be confirmed in the next 24 hours.
The story seems a little bit far-fetched, however, transfer deals concerning Arsenal are rarely, if ever, settled so quickly and with absolutely no interest shown in the player previously, it seems unlikely that the report would actually be true – more likely to be the player’s agent trying to garnish further interest in his client to increase his value.
Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Mauro Icardi and Alexandre Lacazette in recent weeks and look at how long those deals have taken to ‘get over the line’, if ever they do. Nothing to do with Arsene Wenger and buying a player gets settled that quickly.
Unless it does and we end up with pie on our faces, of course…
