Update on Arsenal’s interest in Lacazette, face competition from Paris Saint-Germain
|Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette is the primary target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to a report from L’Équipe.
The Lyon centre forward was subject of a €35m offer from the Gunners which the French side released a statement on, confirming that they had turned the offer down.
However, it has been made well aware that the bid was simply an ‘opening offer’ and that Arsene Wenger is preparing a second offer of €40m, although it is expected that the Ligue 1 giants will also turn it down.
Despite the north London side’s clear interest in the 25-year-old, they will face competition from Unai Emery’s PSG – who have identified Lacazette as their ‘primary target’, as they bid to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who joined Manchester United earlier this summer.
Lacazette’s future could hinge off PSG potentially signing Jese Rodriguez, with the Real Madrid centre forward out-of-favour in Spain and possibly available for a move, which could mean Arsenal face no competition for the Frenchman’s signature.
Basically, we’re going to see a lot of speculation over the next week or so and it’s likely that this deal could be taken deep into the summer, although if you’re Arsene Wenger, you want this deal wrapped up before August 14th, considering, you know, there’s no Olivier Giroud…
