A deal that will see Wojciech Szczesny rejoin Roma on a season-long this summer is expected to be tied up within the next 24 hours.

The Poland international underwent a medical on Thursday according to Gazzetta World and is set to complete a move within the next day.

It’s expected that Roma will pay just under £1m to Arsenal and will split his salary 50/50 for the season, while the Italian side have also negotiated a right-to-buy clause, should they choose to take him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Despite signing Alisson on a permanent contract from Internacional earlier this summer, the Serie A side have looked to strengthen even further with the addition of 26-year-old Szczesny.

With David Ospina and Petr Cech competing for a place between the sticks, as well as the likes of Emiliano Martinez and Matt Macey providing adequate back-up for the future, it appears that the Pole may well have played in an Arsenal shirt for the final time.
