Ospina speaks out on Arsenal future amid Besiktas links
|Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has revealed that he is ‘happy’ at the club and is not thinking about a future away, despite links with a number of teams including Premier League rivals Everton.
The Colombian international fell out-of-favour from the starting XI when the north London side brought in Petr Cech from Chelsea last summer but still made a number of appearances and whilst the 33-year-old was out with an injury, proved himself to be a more than adequate replacement.
Ospina is currently keeping Wojicech Szczesny out of the side, with the Poland international set to make another loan move to Roma due to his inability to tie down a place in the side.
Despite not being the out and out no.1 choice between the sticks at the Emirates Stadium, Ospina, speaking to the London Evening Standard, told them that he is happy in north London.
“I have a contract with Arsenal, I’m happy with the team.
“We are fighting for the top of the league.
“Now we have two weeks until we start the season. These friendlies serve us very well.”
Ospina looks set for yet another battle with Cech for the no.1 spot and despite the ex-Czech international being the fans’ favourite, Arsene Wenger certainly has a soft spot for the 27-year-old.
