Probable Arsenal XI to face Viking FK

AFP_DQ7KS

Arsenal face Viking FK in their fourth pre-season game of the summer, with the additions of Aaron Ramsey, Alexis Sanchez and Gabriel providing quite the boost to the squad.

Who will be a part of the XI that takes on the Norweigan side at Viking Stadion?

Goalkeeper: Emiliano Martinez

It’s likely that Arsenal’s no.3 choice will start in goal, with Arsene Wenger facing a decision as to whether to keep him on or loan him out for the season ahead.

He’s played on a couple of occasions during pre-season so far and has looked tidy in goal.

Right back: Mathieu Debuchy

Despite reports that the Gunners have accepted a loan bid for Debuchy from Turkey, it’s likely that he’ll start in what could be his final appearance for the north London side this summer, with Hector Bellerin set to face Manchester City just days later.

Central defenders: Gabriel & Krystian Bielik

Gabriel, back from tonsillitis will likely partner Bielik in defence – with the Pole impressing thus far. Rob Holding has featured heavily and is probably in need of a rest, while Calum Chambers will likely play a role from the bench.

Left back: Kieran Gibbs

Gibbs provides adequate back-up to Nacho Monreal and has a chance to stake his claim for a place in the side.

Central midfielders: Francis Coquelin & Mohamed Elneny

The solid midfield pairing will probably start for the Gunners, with Granit Xhaka having started against Chivas De Guadalajara.

Right wing: Theo Walcott

Walcott, fresh off his claims that he wants to be known as a right-winger, will likely start there over Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite the 22-year-old’s heavily impressive pre-season so far.

Attacking midfield: Gedion Zelalem

Zelalem starting behind the striker would be interesting, he’s good in perhaps a deeper role but his creative ability should allow him thrive in the attacking role.

The American is talented but has to prove himself if he wants to be involved for the season ahead.

Left wing: Chris Willock

It’s clear that Willock is part of Wenger’s plans for the season but he hasn’t had much of an impact on pre-season so far due to his lack of game time. Hopefully, that’ll change on Friday evening.

Centre forward: Chuba Akpom

Akpom has been impressive for the Gunners so far and with the news that he’ll be staying at Arsenal this season, he’ll be looking to continue that good form with the Premier League season less than 10 days away.
