Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has spoken out on why he is so pleased to be at the club.
The 23-year-old Swiss international joined at the end of May for a price of over £30m and has featured on a couple of occasions during pre-season, making an impact with his tidy passing ability.
Some players struggle when joining clubs from overseas, however, the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach central midfielder has taken everything in his stride and appears to have settled well into the squad.
Speaking to Arsenal Player during the club’s tour of Scandanavia, Xhaka revealed why he is so pleased to be a part of the north London side.
“I’ve been welcomed really well.
“My teammates are great – very friendly, very nice and they know when to have fun and when to be serious. That’s why I feel really happy here.
“I’ve done a lot with Santi Cazorla and Hector, but I have a good understanding with all my team-mates. I think it’s important to have that and that you don’t leave anyone behind.
“I think it always helps when you’re with each other for almost 24 hours a day, when you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together. You get to know each other better and quicker, and that’s important too.”
Arsenal play Viking FK on Friday evening before facing Manchester City on Sunday in what will be their final match of their pre-season schedule.
The Gunners begin the season with a home fixture against Liverpool on Sunday, 14th August and will be looking to get off to a good start.
