Arsenal have entered talks with Monaco over central defender Marcel Tisserand, according to Get French Football News.
The Gunners have been interested in a new addition for the heart of the defence for a number of weeks after Per Mertesacker was ruled out with injury until the new year. Even more so now, with Gabriel out for at least two months, Arsene Wenger will look to strengthen with experience in order to be able to contend for Premier League glory this season.
After the disappointing start to the Premier League season with a 4-3 loss to Liverpool, the Frenchman, while not blaming his central defenders for the result, acknowledged that he needs to bring in some more experience.
While Shkodran Mustafi is clearly the club’s no.1 target this summer, he may look elsewhere and could have identified the Congolese international as an alternative.
The Gunners are, however, running out of time to secure any more signings with the season already underway and less than two weeks to further their squad.
