Arsenal breathe a sigh of relief over Coquelin
Francis Coquelin had a superb game against Chelsea at the weekend. The Frenchman was all over the pitch and dominated the midfield battle, so much so that N’Golo Kante looked very average.
Having received so much criticism so far this season, Coquelin looked a though he was going to silence those critics with a brilliant performance. The Frenchman, however, picked up an injury after a clash with N’Golo Kante, which forced him to be subbed off.
As of yesterday, there were rumours that he could miss up to three months out with a knee injury but Arsene Wenger has now confirmed that the injury is not as worst as first feared.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s game against Basel, Wenger confirmed that Coquelin would be out but also confirmed that his injury is only a short-term one, via The Express
‘It should be a short-term injury. The scan was quite positive. I think it will be three weeks out’
With Coquelin’s injury, Wenger will surely push new signing Granit Xhaka into the starting role. Good news for Arsenal fans who had feared the worst over Coquelin.
