Arsenal star to sign new deal
According to Henning Feindt of Sport Bild (h/t The Express), Mesut Özil is set to sign a new mega-contract with the club. The news comes after two superb wins for Arsenal, a 3-0 demolition of usual bogey team, Chelsea and a dazzling 2-0 victory against Basel in midweek.
Although the details of the contract are undisclosed it looks like Mesut will receive a huge pay rise while also claiming his long-sought number 10 shirt – a number currently held by Jack Wilshere. Wilshere’s future could be in doubt after Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn told the Evening Standard that his loan deal may become permanent, but said that the decision on his future will remain up to Wilshere.
Hopefully, Ozil’s new contract will entice to fellow star man, Alexis Sanchez to put pen to paper on his new contract, amid reports of interest from Italian giant Juventus. The Serie A Champions have been keeping tabs on Sanchez’s contract negotiations and are keen to bring the Chilean to Italy.
Let’s hope Ozil’s is the first of two new deals to be signed.
