Arsenal set to offer star new contract
Arsenal are set to offer straight-back, Hector Bellerin, a new long-term deal. According to The Independent Arsenal will offer Bellerin a new five-year deal in light of reported interest from Barcelona and Manchester City. The 21-year-old Spanish international has been in fantastic form this season and has established himself as not only one of the best young full-backs in football England, but also Europe.
Manchester City had reportedly made an attempt to sign Bellerin during the summer transfer window, only to be told by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that the Spaniard was not for sale. Bellerin, who has three years left on his current contract, was a product of Barcelona’s youth academy and came to Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2011.
The five-year deal will come with a hefty pay raise and will set out assurances that Arsenal will continue to invest in the squad in their hunt for silverware. With Barcelona keen on bringing the youngster back to the club and Pep Guardiola unsure of Bacary Sagna or Pablo Zabaleta, it is essential that Arsenal tie Bellerin down to a new deal.
