Kieran Gibbs called up to the England squad

Arsenal leftback, Kieran Gibbs has been called up to the England squad following an injury to Ryan Bertrand, acording to multiple reports. Bertrand picked up an injury against Malta and has confirmed that he will miss Tuesday’s match against Slovenia.

Danny Rose came on for the injured Southampton player and will likely start again on Tuesday. Gibbs in currently on holiday in Dubai but will need to cut that short in order to link up with the squad.

At one time Kieran Gibbs had emerged as Arsenal’s first-choice leftback but following an injury and a rejuvenated Nacho Monreal, Gibbs has been unable to break into the team and reclaim his place. The 27-year-old has not featured for England since October 2015 and has made 10 caps for the national team.

England will be looking to make it three wins out of three from Group F following wins against Slovakia and now Malta.
