Alex Iwobi reveals advice given to him by Arsenal star

Alex Iwobi is a rising star in the Premier League. The Nigerian international broke into Arsenal’s first-team last season and is enjoying a superb start to his second season. Such has been his impressive performances that even his team-mates have taken an interest in his progression.

Mesut Ozil recently likened Iwobi to his famous uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha and has since encouraged him to enjoy playing his football, as reported by the Mirror.

‘Mesut just tells me that I’m young and need to express myself on the pitch. Obviously I need to listen to other people’s advice as well, but he tells me to always play with a smile on my face and enjoy the game.’

Iwobi also spoke of his gratitude for the comparison between Iwobi and his uncle, albeit he was surprised.

‘When I saw [his comments] I was like, “Wow is he serious?” because he never really says that much to me. He just gives me advice and help, but it’s such a confidence boost for such a great player to say that about me.’

It seems Ozil’s advice is paying off for the young winger, let’s hope he continue to take the League by storm.
