Jamie Redknapp: Wilshere doesn’t have a future with Arsenal
|In what surprised many Arsenal fans, Jack Wilshere was sent on loan to Bournemouth for the season. The England international has slowly been bedded in by Eddie Howe until Saturday afternoon, where Wilshere played his first full 90 minutes in just over two years.
The Arsenal man was impressive in Bournemouth’s game against Arsenal’s arch rivals but Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Redknapp believes Wilshere should leave Arsenal.
‘I don’t see a future at Arsenal anymore, I think now he will realise he has got to get away from Arsenal. It’s too comfortable for him there. He is not going to get into the team at Arsenal regularly.’
‘If he makes that move he can show what he is all about. No disrespect, I think he’s a step above Bournemouth, but I think it’s a great thing for him to do. He’s really putting himself out there.’
Although he hasn’t back to his past best, Wilshere has looked impressive for Bournemouth over the last few weeks. It’s essential for Wilshere to play a significant amount of games this season having missed so many over the last few years. At 24-years-old but plagued by injuries, completing 90 minutes is a massive achievement, as Redknapp also referenced.
‘It’s massive for him, he has proved to himself he can play 90 minutes and I think it is important. He did really well today and it was difficult for him against Dembele and Wanyama, [they are] big units.
‘It was always difficult but some of his touches were exquisite and as the game wore on, the last five minutes he came back into it again.’
If Wilshere can be injury free for the rest of the year, maybe he still does have a career with Arsenal.
