Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal

Manchester United v Arsenal - Premier League

Arsenal grabbed a late in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford, in what was a very poor game of football. The Gunners produced an abysmal performance which saw Manchester United dominate the games for large parts. United went ahead deservedly when Ander Herrera pulled back for Juan Mata to smash home in just over an hour of the game gone.

Arsenal never looked like getting back into the game, however, they drew level when an Oxlade-Chamberlain cross was headed in by Giroud – that was the North Londoners’ first shot on target in the 89th minute. Arsene Wenger’s men miss out on the chance to go top, however, they do maintain their unbeaten run, which stretches from the opening game loss to Liverpool.

Let’s take a look at the player ratings in a poor performance from Arsenal.

Petr Cech: 7.5/10

Arsenal v Everton - Premier League

Kept the gunners in the game with a brilliant first half save from Mata, however, could do nothing about the goal. In a game littered with poor play, Petr Cech was one of the few players to actually turn up today. A solid game for ‘keeper, Arsenal needed it.

Carl Jenkinson: 7/10

Played surprisingly well in a game where he was targeted in the opening 10 minutes. Won his headers and tackles well. He doesn’t provide Bellerin’s attacking ability but he just about did enough.

Laurent Koscielny: 6.5/10

Manchester United v Arsenal - Premier League

The Frenchman played well to limit chances for Rashford and Martial. He marshalled the defence reasonably but at times also gave the ball away.

Skhodran Mustafi: 7/10

Much like Koscielny, Mustafi had an average game. His passing was very inaccurate and inconsistent but he just about did his job to defend against Man U’s attack.

Nacho Monreal: 5/10

Skinned time and time again by Antonio Valencia, however cannot be fully blamed with no support from Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman never really put in much effort to get back in and help Monreal, and United exposed this. Recently, Monreal has found it hard to defence against pace and it was evident again, Gibbs could well be inserted into the starting XI.

Mohamed Elneny: 5.5/10

624341384

Too many sideways passes. Without Cazorla or Xhaka, none of the midfield look to pass forward. IN tandemt with Coquelin, Elneny was often lost in defence and poor going forward.

Francis Coquelin: 6.5/10

Developed into the game as it came along but overall, had a very below par performance. He and Elneny were supposed to provide some cover for the defence and solidity in midfield, in truth, they did neither.

Aaron Ramsey: 4.5/10

Manchester United v Arsenal - Premier League

The Welshman looks a shadow of the player he was from three seasons ago. There wasn’t really anything Ramsey did well against Man U. He started on the wing but provided no threat in attack and didn’t help Monreal in defence. A very poor game for the Welshman.

Mesut Ozil: 5.5/10

On the ball a lot but had nothing to pass to. Arsenal had no real focal point up front and Ozil suffered because of it.

Theo Walcott: 6/10

Provided cover for Jenkinson on the right but not much else. Considering the multitude of poor performances from Arsenal, Walcott did ok.

Alexis Sanchez: 6/10

624338668

Provided nothing up front as Arsenal couldn’t play their passes through midfield to get Alexis on the ball second half.

Substitutes

Olivier Giroud: 8/10

Wins my MOTM purely because he dug Arsenal out of a hole with a brilliant header.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 7.5/10

A delightful cross to Giroud while playing an unfamiliar position at right back.

Granit Xhaka: N/A

Wasn’t on the pitch for long enough to make an impact.
