Arsenal to target Reus if Sanchez leaves
|
Arsenal have long been locked in contract negotiations with Alexis Sanchez, and as it stands right now, talks have not progressed.
With this in mind, the Mirror is reporting that Arsenal will target Borussia Dortmund star, Marco Reus if Sanchez does indeed leave the club. Sanchez has 18 months left on his current £130,000-a-week deal and it remains doubtful if he will sign the new deal offered by Arsenal, which reportedly is close to £200,000-a-week.
In his new role as a striker, Sanchez has blossomed and has been showing some of his best form since joining the club. Due to this, Arsenal are desperate to tie him down to a new deal, having already signed Hector Bellerin to a new contract, while Mesut Ozil seems likely to sign too.
Although Marco Reus is a top player and a very capable replacement, his injury record is one that would scare most top clubs away. He has only recently come back off a long-term injury which kept him out of Germany’s Euro squad and it has now been reported that he will face a further six months out with a new injury.
