According to talksport, Arsenal have joined Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Atalanta defender Mattia Caldara.
The Atalanta defender has spent the past two seasons out on loan at Trapani and Cesena but is enjoying a break out season. The 22-year-old has been integral to Atalanta’s strong start to the season. While midfielder, Franck Kessie has stolen most of the headlines for Atalanta, Caldara has been equally impressive in defence.
Juventus lead the chase for the young defender and could indeed make a bid for him in January as they look to find a long-term replacement to Bonnuci, Barzagli and Chiellini. Although bids could come in for Caldara in January, Atalanta will be asking for a hefty fee and even the player himself would not be hugely keen on leaving considering he has only just broken into the first-team of his boyhood club.
