The English forward is hoping to make his comeback to the first-team after two weeks of full training during the festive period but due to his recent injury record, albeit Wenger will be cautious in rushing him back following two long-term injuries.
As the fixtures start to pile up, the return of Welbeck could allow Arsène Wenger to give players like Alexis Sanchez some well-deserved rest in what could end up being a very tough season.
Danny Welbeck has played 49 games for the Gunners since joining in 2014, scoring 13 goals including the late winner against Leicester back in February, in a game where he was also making his comeback from a long-term injury.
