Liverpool star has anti-Arsenal clause in his contract

According to Belgian news outlet, Le Soir (h/t Get French Football News) Liverpool star, Roberto Firmino has a clause in his contract that prevents him from joining Arsenal at any price.

The report also alleges that Firmino has a €98 million clause in his contract which any club can trigger apart from Arsenal, probably as a result of Arsenal’s infamous £40 million and £1 bid. Their report is as follows:

‘Arsenal cannot buy him for €98m, nor for any higher amount. When he signed his contract with Liverpool on the 1st July 2015, the Brazilian attacking midfielder was burdened with a €98m release clause, which seems a lot. But it is not yet enough to keep distance with rivals Arsenal. The €98m therefore, is only “if the club that is interested is not Arsenal.”‘

Since his arrival from Hoffenheim, Firmino has become an essential part of Klopp’s side, especially this season as they look to challenge for the title, and for the near future it seems as though he’ll be staying put in Liverpool.
