Transfer News: Arsenal track young Belgian goalkeeper
|Arsenal are tracking young Belgian goalkeeper, Guillaume Hubert, according to the Daily Mail. The 22-year-old ‘keeper has been scouted six times by Arsenal’s scouts, who were once again present as Standard Liege’s 2-2 draw with Gent at the weekend.
The under-21 international has been tipped to break into Roberto Martinez’s national squad in the near future and could possibly be Arsenal’s long-term replacement for Petr Cech. Arsenal’s current number one has been a superb signing for the club since he joined from Chelsea but at 34, he is nearing the end of his career, while Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper, David Ospina, is considering a move away from the club. Arsenal also have Wojciech Szczesny, who is currently in his second year on loan at AS Roma.
Arsenal are not the only club to be scouting Hubert, as Liverpool, Swansea and Leicester City are all scouting the goalkeeper, who also had a trial with Stoke as a youth.
