Sam Allardyce keen to make Arsenal man his first signing
|Crystal Palace’s new manager, Sam Allardyce, will reportedly attempt to sing Arsenal’s left-back, Kieran Gibbs, according to The Sun.
After seemingly losing his place to Nacho Monreal over the last few seasons but amid Monreal’s drop in performance and Gibbs’ apparent rise, the Englishman has found himself restored to the starting line-up.
Gibbs’ current deal only has 18 months left, which has led to him being a prime target of not only Palace but also Swansea City. With Swansea seemingly staring down the barrel of relegation, combined with the prospect of staying in London, Palace may be his favoured destination.
With Monreal’s inconsistency this season, however, Wenger may still see value in keeping Gibbs, especially with his fairly strong performances of late. Although Gibbs was forced to leave the pitch with an apparent knee injury, if he can come back and help the team, Wenger may still offer him a new deal at.
