Arsenal defender in high demand over January move
|With Hector Bellerin firmly entrenched as the first-team right-back, Mathieu Debuchy heading for the exit door and Gabriel seemingly an adequate backup, Carl Jenkinson has become surplus to requirements at Arsenal.
According to John Cross of the Daily Mirror, five teams have now shown interest in taking the defender on loan for the rest of the season. According to the report, Watford are the latest to club to show interest in the 24-year-old, who will almost certainly be allowed to leave next month. Hull City, Swansea, West Ham and Aston Villa have all shown interest in taking the right-back on loan for the rest of the season.
Arsenal are unlikely to sell Jenkinson on a permanent move but understand the player’s eagerness to go out on loan to get solid first-team football, wherever that may be. Furthermore, Crystal Palace could also be interested in a move for the player, as Sam Allardyce is a fan of Jenkinson, albeit Kieran Gibbs is likely off the table.
