Dortmund closing in on Arsenal youth star
|ESPN Sport claim that US international Gedion Zelalem is close to signing for Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis. His contract is up in the summer and it appears Dortmund are keen to take the midfielder for a cut-price fee.
After a successful loan-spell at Rangers, the 19-year-old has found his first-team opportunities limited at the Emirates, with his only appearances coming as a substitute in the EFL cup.
ESPN reports that the young American, whose father is a Dortmund fan, is tempted by the prospect of first-team action with the German giants and which is a key factor in any potential move.
If the deal is to be confirmed, it will be a huge blow to the Gunners. Zelalem is regarded as a player with an immensely bright future and Arsenal will be loathed to have let the young midfielder slip through their grasp.
