Arsenal announced the contract extensions of Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin this week. Although the fans would have wanted Arsenal to announce new deals for Sanchez and Ozil, the three players in question are crucial to the Gunners. Following the announcement, Olivier Giroud spoke about why he signed the new deal.
“It was a frustrating few months. But obviously we were talking about a new contract since the beginning of the year, so I am very happy to carry on this good adventure with the Arsenal family. That’s it, I am very delighted with the club, the boss and myself. I want to win even more trophies so hopefully it’s going to be this year.”
Giroud also spoke about how Arsenal resolving Wenger’s contract situation is for him and his teamates.
“Yes, obviously. I hope that he is going to stay. He built this club and I don’t think he will leave, we hope. So I wanted to [renew] and I think it was the moment for me to sign a new contract with the club and we’re going to hope that he signs himself as well and a couple of other players to the club as well.”
