Who was your ‘Man of the Match’ against Swansea?
|Arsenal travelled to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea, looking for all three points after a frustrating draw against Bournemouth last week. Mesut Ozil returned following illness and Gabriel took the right back position as Hector Bellerin was ruled out due to an injury picked up during training.
It was 1-0 at half-time thanks to Giroud’s rebound tap in, and Arsenal continued their resurgence with a goal from Alexis Sanchez and two lucky own goals in the second-half. Arsenal got theirmuch-neededd win and the three points to carry on with the campaign.
Let’s have a look at Arsenal’s ‘Man of the Match’ contendors in what seemed to be an easy win for Arsenal.
A) Mesut Ozil
Mesut Ozil came back from illness to make a return into the starting XI after missing Arsenal’s last two Premier League fixtures and the FA Cup win against Preston.
Ozil had a good game, combining with Alexis to attack Swansea’s back line. His headed attempt off Alexis’ cross in the first-half was blocked by the Swansea defence for Giroud to put in the rebound. His distribution was at par, while his return comes as a delightful news for the Gunners.
B) Alexis Sanchez
Alexis Sanchez had a good game, albeit not his best, but it was still good enough to help Arsenal get the three points. His ball in towards Mesut Ozil in the first-half was the spark that gifted Olivier Giroud his fifth goal in five games. Alexis did what he does best and was a constant ball of energy. The Chilean also got his 14th goal of the campaign, when he snatched onto a volley after the ball strayed into his path in the Swansea penalty box. His performance was a good one but everyone will be talking about his somewhat petulant response to being substituted, unfortunately.
C) Alex Iwobi
The Nigerian ‘Young Player of the Year’ assisted both of Swansea’s own goals – if that makes sense – when two of his attempted shots were deflected onto the Swansea goal. He had a decent game overall and did well aiding both Alexis and Ozil in Arsenal’s attacks going forward.
After some poor performances of late, Iwobi performed much better, in what will be pleasing to see for the Arsenal faithful. A good game overall for the youngster.
