Arsene Wenger has admitted that Carl Jenkinson is now likely to stay at the club despite the club having accepted a £7 million bid from Crystal Palace.
Jenkinson has been locked in talks with Palace over personal terms, with the south London willing to meet his £40,000-a-week salary. Jenkinson, however, who has also attracted interest from both West Brom and Watford but will only leave Arsenal if he gets an increase on his wages.
The January deadline closes on Tuesday and although he is open to selling the fullback, he now expects him to stay in north London.
“There’s no news about him at all, we are still open because we have many players in this position but at the moment it doesn’t look like something will happen.”
“We respect any professional decision he makes. Carl Jenkinson is a great player with a great attitude. After that he must find happiness with the conditions where he goes and feel comfortable.”
