Deadline move: Arsenal complete deal for striker

Arsenal have confirmed that Stephy Mavididi has joined Charlton Athletic on loan for the rest of the season.

Mavididi has been an essential player for Arsenal’s under-21 team last season and under-23 team this year. The powerful striker scored 17 goals in 30 appearances last season and has scored six goals in 11 appearances for the under-23 team so far this season.

At only 18-years-old, it’s a testament to Mavididi’s development and potential that Arsenal have sent him out loan to get a taste of first-team football. Indeed, Charlton boss, Karl Robinson has high hopes for the young striker.

“Stephy is someone that I’ve seen a few times in the U23 Premier League and he has certainly got the key components to succeed in what I call ‘real’ football. He has the power, the game intelligence and this move is one that he has to grab with both hands.”
