Sky Sports: Deal for defender stalled over wage dispute
|Carl Jenkinson’s move to Crystal Palace stalled when the Arsenal defender realised that Crystal Palace’s new signing, Jeffrey Schlupp would be earning more than him, as reported by Sky Sports.
Arsenal had agreed a £7 million fee with Crystal Palace for Jenkinson, but after Jenkinson found out that the South London club were paying Schlupp £56,ooo a week, while only offering him £35,000, the deal has stalled and looks unlikely to go through before the deadline.
In his press conference on Monday, Wenger did admit that the deal is unlikely to go ahead.
“We respect any professional decision.”
“Carl Jenkinson is a great player who has a great attitude. There is no problem on that front. After that, he must find happiness with his conditions and where he goes and feel comfortable.”
