Sevilla boss puts Arsenal on alert after delaying contract talks

Sevilla boss, Jorge Sampaoli has put Arsenal and Barcelona on alert after delaying contract talks with the Spanish side until the summer, as reported by the Mirror. 

The former Chile boss has become one of the most sought after coaches following his success with the national team while also guiding Sevilla to third in La Liga this season. 

The Spanish side are keen to tie the Argentinian down to a new contract as his current deal only has a buy-out clause of €1.5 million. Barcelona are reportedly leading the race to sign Sampaoli with Luis Enrique expected to leave in the summer and has Sampaoli has done little to silenced the rumours linking him with leaving the club. 

“We appreciate that they are trying to renew our contracts but to do that while we are in the present is very difficult.”

“We only want to live in the moment. The way we work is like this and there are many reasons to appreciate the present. This is the most important game for Sevilla, we want to be one of the best eight teams in Europe and that’s more important than thinking about the future.”
