Former Arsenal Invincible takes dig at Tottenham Hotspur

Martin Keown has taken a dig at Tottenham Hotspur, going so far as to say that the Spurs are a decade behind Arsenal, he told BT Sport

Tottenham will soon be moving to a bigger stadium for a bigger and better stadium, however, Keown believes that it’s a step too late for them, ten years to be particular.

Everyone knows how Arsenal struggled with the finances and player dealings as they tried to pay off the Emirates Stadium, and their North-London rivals are due to enter a similar phase, meaning their on-field performances could take a hit.

“They’re 10 years behind Arsenal. The Wembley effect, we did that, and it was never going to be successful for them. I don’t think Spurs fans should get too far ahead of themselves. They have a smaller squad, and that’s due to financial constraints.

“They’re building a brand-new stadium. We’ve already heard about that from Arsenal and how restrictive that was, so they already have that to contend with.”

Keown also praised Mauricio Pochettino for the way he has built the side and turned them into genuine title contenders.

“Look at the way he’s nurtured the players, we’re looking at Kyle Walker playing out of his skin, Danny Rose. The performances of some of these players, Dier, we’ve a lot to be grateful for.”
