“Am I watching prime Zidane?” – Arsenal fans find a glimmer of light within a poor performance

While Arsenal’s night was largely poor, there was one small positive from the game: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performance.

Arsenal fielded an almost full-strength team against Bayern Munich last night but alas most of the players didn’t really show up. Theo Walcott blasted Arsenal into the lead but after that was very clumsy going forward. Alexis Sanchez was at times sloppy with the ball, frustrated with his teammates and lazy in defence. The back four were soft-centred, porous and seemingly lost without Koscielny, however, in midfield Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain outshone his teammates and was arguably the best player on the pitch.

The Arsenal fans rightly recognised the midfielder’s performance and praised him heavily after the game.
