Mesut Ozil – My future doesn’t solely depend on Arsene Wenger

Mesut Ozil has around 15 months left on his current deal and contrary to reports, he has insisted that his future does not depend on Arsene Wenger, as reported by the Mirror.

For sometime now it has been thought that Ozil will only sign a new contract once he knows whether Wenger will sign a new deal at Arsenal. The club have apparently offered the German a deal worth £200,000-a-week but have now increased their offer to £280,000-a-week.

Although the deal offered would make him one of the highest earners in the Premier League, Ozil has admitted that he has a great desire to win the Champions League and has yet to decide on his future as he told Bild

“Everything is open. We had talks with Arsenal. Right now I concentrate on the current season. Arsene Wenger was one of the main reasons I joined Arsenal. But I know that sometimes things go very fast in football and that you can never plan something.”

“This is why it would be wrong to say that my future depends on my coach. I want to win the Champions League one day, preferably with Arsenal. I have one more year on my contract here.”
