Chelsea have reportedly made Arsenal’s hot property Alexis Sanchez their top transfer target, according to The Guardian.
Alexis’ current contract runs at the end of next season, after which he’ll be available on a free transfer. The Chilean is currently on a £130,000-a-week salary, which is well below what you’d expect when you look around at some of the other top stars in the league.
The 28-year-old is demanding as much as £250,000-a-week, which the Arsenal board doesn’t quite seem ready to offer him since the club’s current wage structure would have to be shattered for that to happen.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, such a situation has encouraged Chelsea to make a move for Sanchez, the only good news being the Blues’ willingness to pay the £50m – or even more – fee that the North Londoners would want for their hitman.
Even though Arsenal won’t want to sell the former FC Barcelona player to their London rivals, it may just be beyond their control, especially with so many top clubs interested.
