Frustration for fans as Wenger provides latest injury news
|Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Petr Cech and Lucas Perez will both miss this weekend’s game against Manchester City, while Santi Cazorla will not play again this season.
Santi Cazorla has only made 11 appearances for the club this team, having been hindered by an ankle injury which forced him to have surgery back in December. The Spaniard’s last appearance for the Gunners was against Ludogorets back in October but Wenger has now confirmed he will not feature again this season.
“Unfortunately no [update on Cazorla], I think the season is over for him”
Wenger also confirmed that Petr Cech and Lucas Perez will both be out this weekend, with the former likely to miss the game against West Ham too.
“We have lost Petr Cech at West Brom – he will not be fit for Sunday. I think he could miss Sunday, Wednesday and maybe available again after.”
“Lucas is a thigh problem and then that should be it basically”
In terms of Mesut Ozil and Sanchez, both have made it through the international break unscathed.
“We got a message from Sanchez, it was a kick. Bone bruising. He could normally play. The only thing we didn’t know was if the ligament was touched or not, but it was just a kick.”
“Ozil is in contention to start again. He played 20 minutes for Germany in Azerbaijan, he has come back focused and worked very hard this week.”
