Report: Arsenal ready to bid for Middlesbrough defender

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Middlesbrough defender, Ben Gibson as reported by the Evening Standard.

Both Arsenal and West Ham have been monitoring the youngster since the beginning of March. Although Gibson signed a five-year contract last August, it will be hard to jeeo the defender should Middlesbrough fail to stay in the Premier League.

Arsenal are said to be focusing on a striker and left-back this summer but would still be interested in Gibson as he can also operate as a fullback. Due to the big money moves of John Stones last summer, Middlesbrough are thought to be holding out for a fee close to £30m but that may be hard to generate if they go down.
