Player Ratings: Arsenal 2-2 Manchester City

In an entertaining game at the Emirates Arsenal came back from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Manchester City in the Premier League. The Gunners were overrun early on but found their feet as the first-half went on and kept themselves in the game.

Despite the positives we can take from the game Arsenal were still caught out a few times and on another day it could have been yet another defeat. Although it was an improved performance from Arsenal, they still seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

With that being said, here are today’s ratings for the Arsenal players.

David Ospina: 7/10

Although Ospina conceded two goals he put in some good crucial saves to keep Arsenal in the game during crucial moments.

Hector Bellerin: 5/10

The young defender switched off to allow Sane goal side of him to score his goal. However, Bellerin did gave us width and an attacking outlet when Walcott was subbed off in the second-half.

Shkodran Mustafi: 6 /10

After his poor positioning early on was capitalised by a simple ball over the top that led to the Sane goal, Mustafi seemed to settle down and looked more assured defensively. He scored his second headed goal this season to pull the game level in the second-half. Arsenal will need him to step up if Koscielny is out for the next few games.

Laurent Koscielny: 5/10

The strong defender had to come off at half-time with an injury to be replaced by Gabriel. He positioned himself well to intercept the ball a few times in crucial areas but will surely be disappointed at being subbed due to yet another injury.

Nacho Monreal: 7/10

Arguably one of the best players on the pitch. While Bellerin looked a bit out of sorts, Monreal was incredibly solid in defence and linked up well with Sanchez.

Granit Xhaka: 6/10

Another game, another tackle and another yellow card. Xhaka seems almost incapable of staying booking free for Arsenal, but, despite the card he managed to still put in some tough tackles while avoiding another yellow. His passing was slightly better but there’s still room for improvement.

Francis Coquelin: 5/10

The poor passing and awfully timed challenges coupled with an early yellow card made it another difficult game for all Arsenal fans to endure. Time and time again the defensive midfielder has shown his poor tackling and positioning, today was no different.

Theo Walcott: 7/10

Walcott was by far our player who showed the most drive in the first-half, running at players with frightening pace and intensity. Theo equalised to take his goal scoring record to five consecutive games against Manchester City. He almost doubled his tally for the day with a wonderful flicked shot that went just over the bar. A good game for Walcott.

Mesut Ozil: 6/10

The German international secured his 50th assist for Arsenal in all competitions, yet some sections of the Arsenal fans were displeased with his performance today. Caught in possession right after Walcott equalised allowed City to pull ahead through Aguero but overall Ozil didn’t have a bad game, in fact he did a lot of work that went unnotcied by many.

Alexis Sanchez: 7.5/10

Sanchez constantly tracked back to help out in defence while City were pushing forward in numbers. Going forward he was his usual energetic and dangerous self. Probably Arsenal’s best player on the day.

Danny Welbeck: 6/10

Held the ball up to bring our other forward players into the game and as always, Welbeck worked hard to press the City defence. He still doesn’t seem fully fit yet which is understandable but an ok game none the less.

Subs:

Gabriel: 6.5/10

Came on at half-time for Koscielny, the defender put in a solid performance and managed to keep the City forwards at bay.

Oliver Giroud: 5/10

The Frenchman was brought on for Theo Walcott with just over twenty minutes to go. He was largely ineffective as a sub this time.

Alex Iwobi: 6/10

Subbed on for Danny Welbeck with fifteen minutes of normal time left, kept the ball very well and tried to spread the play wide when in possession.
