Arsenal players to lose out on £5m if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League
|Arsenal players are all set to miss out on £5m if they fail to finish fourth or higher, as per The Times.
Arsenal have never finished outside the top four under Arsene Wenger, however, an embarrassingly poor run of form in the Premier League has seen them drop from being Chelsea’s nearest competitors to also-rans who are now struggling to be in the top four.
Although Arsene Wenger’s side showed good signs in their 3-0 win over West Ham United, the hopes of gaining UEFA Champions League qualification are still bleak. Arsenal haven’t failed to qualify for the UCL for the past 19 seasons, a record only bettered by Real Madrid.
Shall the North London outfit finish below the Champions League spots, they’ll end up losing the £46m they get from UEFA as well, meaning that the players will lose the £5m they’ll get as part of the bonus otherwise. Talk about motivation.
