Arsenal consider recruitment chief for new sporting director role

Arsenal are considering making their head of international recruitment, Francis Cagigao, the club’s sporting director, according to the Evening Standard.

The Spaniard has been credited with the signings of Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin and has become a close confident of Wenger having helped bring Cesc Fabregas to the club. 

Arsenal are planning some major structural changes within the club and will implement a sporting director this summer regardless of whether Wenger stays or not. Cagigao is contracted to Arsenal until 2020 but has received interest from multiple clubs, therefore the Gunners will now consider him for the role in order to keep him at the club.  

Arsenal want someone who can help share the responsibility of the transfers and although the process is still in the preliminary stages, Cagigao is one the top candidates.
