Marc Overmars has emerged as the leading candidate to be Arsenal’s first ever director of football, according to the Daily Mail.
Ever since his arrival back in 1996/97, Arsene Wenger has been in charge of all of Arsenal’s football-related matters. As the club now looks to move forward, however, upper management is planning to have a director of football who will oversee nearly everything that goes on at Arsenal F.C.
The Mail understands that Marc Overmars – currently working at the same position at Ajax – is leading the line at the moment. The Dutchman had a successful spell at Arsenal, winning the double with Arsene Wenger in 1997/98.
Another man among potential candidates is Borussia Dortmund’s Michael Zorc, who has run the club very well.
