Arsene Wenger has jumped to the defence of under-fire right-back, Hector Bellerin. The Frenchman has insisted that Bellerin does not deserve the abuse that has come his way of late.
Bellerin’s form has dropped massively this season and has become the subject of much of the fans’ frustrations. Following Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace last Monday, the defender was booed by the away fans.
Wenger, however, has no intention of taking Bellerin out of the firing line and has concluded that he still has not fully recovered from his ankle injury, which he suffered in December, as reported by the Telegraph.
“He has not come back to his level since he has been injured. You get bad habits and you forget that your job first is to defend and win challenges because you protect yourself a little bit.”
“He is guy who is genuinely Arsenal and wants to do well. He is ready to play with pain. Like all the players, they are focused, conscious that they want to respond and accept completely that we were not at the level.”
