Arsene Wenger – This is why I changed our formation and dropped Bellerin

Arsenal finally managed to get back to winning ways on Monday night with a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough.

After months of inept play, Arsene Wenger shuffled the pack and switched to 3-4-3 system. The switch in formation was the first time Wenger has played with three at the back since 1997.

The Gunners have won just one of their last five league games which led to the Frenchman changing tactics to give the team a more solid shape.

“We weren’t solid defensively [against Crystal Palace]. We will of course have to defend better as a team.”

“In the last two games away from home we’ve had a lot of the ball and didn’t create a lot. Let’s try to come back with some defensive stability.”

“Recently we’ve lost a lot of direct fights centrally and so it will get us a bit stronger in the air.”
