Arsenal will inform Wenger that any changes that are made in the summer, will not undermine or restrict his power at the club, according to Jeremy Wilson of the Daily Telegraph.
When asked about the club’s intention to create a Sporting Director role, Arsene Wenger dismissed the possibility of the position being created.
Arsenal have been exploring candidates for the new role over the last few months. The club intend the position to help across all football operations rather than be involved in the coaching or team selection.
With so many different aspects involved in football now, Arsenal are searching for someone to lessen the load of the off-pitch operations. It comes, however, at a time where Wenger and the board – chiefly Gazidis – seem to be at odds over the future plans of the club.
