Lyon president offers glimmer of light in Arsenal’s pursuit of Lacazette

Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Lyon forward, Alexandre Lacazette. The French striker has been one of the best strikers in Europe over the last few years but according to Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, Lacazette has an agreement with Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to L’Equipe (h/t GFFN) Aulas confirmed that Lacazette has an agreement with Ateltico Madrid, although he did admit that the move does hinge on Atleti’s transfer band being lifted.

“Alex has a verbal agreement with a club, Atletico, so, there is no certainty, because we have to wait to see if the Court of Arbitration for Sport will lift their recruitment ban.”

Aulas then went onto to confirm that Atleti must match Lyon’s valuation of Lacazette and that no agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

“We have accepted the demand from Alex to discuss exclusively with this club, but the other side of the coin is that this exclusivity requires them to meet our conditions. It is good to dream, but they must reach all our obligation. There is therefore at the moment no perfect agreement.”

Arsenal still may have a chance to sign the forward, albeit not qualifying for the Champions League won’t help matters.
