Arsenal’s defensive crisis: Shkodran Mustafi a doubt for the FA Cup final

Arsenal have been dealt another blow in their pursuit of the FA Cup as Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Shkodran Mustafi hasn’t returned to training as yet.

Mustafi’s news comes following the apocalyptic 3-1 win over Everton, which saw Laurent Koscielny being red carded and therefore suspended for three games, and Gabriel Paulista out injured for at least eight weeks.

“Shkodran Mustafi, we still have some worries about. He’s still sick at the moment and has not trained yet”

Wenger did confirm, however, that Gabriel’s injury is not as bad as first feared.

“We had a scare about his (Gabriel) cruciate but it’s medial. He avoids surgery.”

The casualities mean that Arsenal have once again been left short of defensive cover with Per Mertesacker the only experienced centre-back left for Arsene Wenger but in some positive news, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has returned to full training this week.
