Breaking News: Arsenal target asks to leave club

Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez has asked to leave the club amid interest from other clubs, particularly Arsenal.

The Algerian winger had been linked with a move to Arsenal last season but eventually stayed with the East Midlands clubs. In a statement released today, however, Mahrez clarified his desire to leave the club.

“I had a good discussion with the Chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League.”

“However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience.”

After a season which saw Mahrez win the Players’ and Fans’ ‘Player of the Year’ award, the talented forward has struggled to replicate that form again this season. Mahrez only managed six goals and four assists this season but could still add some attacking potency to the Arsenal frontline, especially if Sanchez decides to leave.
